Destinations don't matter, the journey matters.
This is overlanding for the everyday person where you're only limited to the terrain in which you adventure based on the capabilities of your vehicle. You don't need a crazy expensive rig to "overland." If Roger can overland, so can you!

PS what's that tent/living space above your SUV? That looks pretty cool!
Superb video. This is a pretty sexy chair. And I like the high back and that it flips over to be a more upright chair.
That was Boss bruddah...hPpy trails
About a month ago I went camping at a new to me location and I thought I had the whole canyon to myself. Then I saw sign for shooters to pickup their shell casings. I paid for a camp site a few miles away. If the finger didn't heal, that would've made a great Yakuza story!
Iceco vs the red timber ridge - who wins a spot on your truck ?
Since I like having lumbar support, the Timber Ridge chair is more comfortable for me.
Wow, excellent content, thank you for sharing this information.
What kind of table are you using with your camp stove? Can I buy it on Amazon?

So usefull, verry clear and complete. 2 questions: 1. When testing if your downloaded map is available offline, shouldn’t you also block the access to cellular data for the app? (Sorry if my English isn’t good, I speak French☺. And sorry if my questions are too basic.) My point is I’m not sure where the downloaded map is saved. Is it in the phone memory or in the cloud? I think it’s in the phone memory so even if there is no signal, you can access to the map. So, for the test, you block Gaia to access cellular data? 2. How can we delete downloaded maps?
You can forget my second question! You give the answer in your next video.
just use the airplane mode function and you can double-check your offline data
Ah - the first one that was actually helpful / thank you
i am glad the algorithm from UA-cam brought me to your channel. I am just now looking at gear to get started in my overlanding adventure. Your how to/advice videos have been exactly what I been looking for. Thank you! As for your message at the end of this video, you've already earned a new subscriber, but now a new brother. God bless.
Well done, it's been awhile since I started using Gaia GPS. The recent changes caused me some issues; thee videos which are quite good will be helpful. Appreciate your investment of your time.
Just bought one I can't wait to use it on my next trip
Great video man! new sub!
My favorite thing about dispersed camping is that there are no rules, we can do anything we want without a neighbor calling the cops because we have the bathroom light on after 10pm.
How do I change colors of route on the Gaia app

Boss, how are you? We miss the videos.

Thanks so much for these videos! I've subscribed to Gaia for two years and never really knew how to use it. Now I know what I'm doing and I already used it on a trip I did two weeks ago and everything went great.
appreciate you! 👊
Roger! Where have you gone? I have been awol myself with life detours and changes! Stumbled upon you blog where you had lunch in my home town of Calistoga and I got re-hooked and have recently watched all the available blogs. But the most recent was this one-4 months ago…so I am a bit concerned! I remember you sharing some of your health issues that I think were depression related…are you doing ok? Anything I can pray about? Really hoping all is well!?!? Bob
Doing okay but having a lack of motivation on making videos so I'm taking a break. Thanks for checking in!
@@ggg4runner hey Roger! So relieved to hear you are doing ok! Had me worried a bit! Losing our motivation can be a perplexing situation and one I can relate to. I “love” playing golf (does anyone truly love playing such a frustrating game! No sane person anyway!) and my motivation was to get better and continually lower my handicap. As I have aged, that no longer motivated me, partly because I’ve turned into an old man hacker!! I can no longer improve my handicap because my handicap is now-ME!!! Terrible turn of events! So, I almost quit playing because of a lack of motivation. But I still enjoy the game…so my motivation has changed…and for the better! I now play for the fellowship/social aspect of being out on a beautiful course and being with friends, some old friends and some new one I meet on the first “tee”! And I enjoy the game more now than I did back in the day. So, what I am trying say is that maybe a new motivation of just “overlanding” for yourself, seeing all the beautiful “courses” out there and just being with your wife and /or friends and forgetting about filming. Just enjoy the “journey” as I d heard from someone somewhere! You are a most enjoyable person I while I do miss your blogs (is that the correct word?), more important is that you enjoy where you are in life right now. It’s perfectly ok to take some time off or give it up all together…maybe take up a new hobby( be advised NOT to take up golf for ANY reason. It’s a suckers game- I know because I am a “sucker” and it NOT fun-it’s a curse!) So just want to encourage you to enjoy life where you are right now/wherever that may be! God has you in His hands, He created and gifted you for special things and has a plan for you! If you ever get back to your channel, I will be here waiting! If not, I am thankful for the part of you that you shared with us and will pray Gods blessings over you! Bob P.S. In the case you’re up in Calistoga the next few weeks, I am here visiting and would be happy to treat you to a lunch, dinner or cup of coffee!😊
@@ggg4runner If it can motivate you a little bit, I’m leaving for a hiking trip and would like to see your next video on how to use Gaia on the road. Please 🙏🙏🙏😉. Otherwise, enjoy your Summer!
Thanks for the tutorial on how to organize saved items. I work in a Hardware store, so organising things into logical groups is second nature to me. (I have about 6,000 hardware product lines that I'm responsible for). Sure, it initially takes a bit of time and effort to organise things logically and properly, but in the long run it makes it so much faster and easier to locate what you're looking for!
Loads of excellent info. Thank you for putting it all together! 👍
Great video Unfortunately here in Australia we only have about 2/3 map layers that are of any real use available to us. Thankfully the Gaia Overlander map in meters is one of the usable layers. The combo of layers for me is the Overlander layer and the "Satellite with labels" layer.
So Glad I found your channel, even "Chapter1 Basic Overview" has been a help already!. I recently purchased a Garmin Zumo XT2 for my Honda ADV Motorcycle. (CB500X). I'd already subscribed to Gaia GPX Maps a couple of months earlier, but I've never fully understood what it can really do. I'm looking very forward to your future videos. Thanks heaps and I have subscribed to your UA-cam channel.
Great advice!
NEVER go into the wilds without a weapon, you are your ONLY line of defense cops & rangers will not be around or able to get to you in time.
If you and the date are going camping and your car camping, whatever water allotment, you’re figuring if you do any hiking, you have to figure 1 quart an hour per person for hiking
How to import shapefile to Gaia gps?
There are websites that convert shapefile to KML, just google and take your pick

Well-structured, easy-to-follow video series. Thank you. It convinced me to purchase the premium subscription to GAIA! I am looking forward to your next set of videos in this series.
Ah. We live up in Maine. This “dispersed camping” phrase is new. Kinda like “trans” is a new phrase. We just call it camping. Or I’m going to get all twisted and the woods. I might catch a fish but probably just a buzz. If you can’t read a paper map your already in bad spot. Ya gotta be able to read the graduations on a map or GPS. So you don’t need a fancy Garmin or that phone thing. I mean if you go out into the woods know how to read a compass and map. I can’t tell you how many well hearted folk I’ve met over the past five years completely lost, out of gas and in full panic mode. Batteries drained no cell service. It’s kinda funny. Wifey and I always mess with the douche and his family with all that tech and still manage to get lost. It’s an inside joke. Me” they look like they are having issues” wife “ so stupid, don’t help them, they need to learn” me “learn what they will never do this again! “ wife “yeah f them, they don’t belong out here. Rich c$nts from Cali,Ny or Jersey think they can buy their way with the knomes let them die.” Me should we take pictures and document? The death of a family “ her. “ dam it nooooo. Go help them. Again. I’m tired of these people who have no business out here ruining our weekend” 😂 2 x a month we are pulling out idiots with a 4x4 lost in the woods because they can’t read a map and some cracked out 4x4 they don’t even know how to drive.
If you can’t spend one night under the stars in just a wool blanket at 30 degrees don’t even think about some Instagram camping trip. It’s not safe for you. Stick to campgrounds. Get your basics down before you put a load on your back. We do combo. We use the rig to get in and out. I can’t stress enough the backwoods you can’t google, watch videos ect. You have to do it from the basics. Often. It’s a skill you can’t just read about. The plethora of shit that can come up is imaginable
Thanks! Totally dig the series on the maps.
To the point. Very well done.
Why did you use snoops voice
Thank you for this video. It had helped a whole bunch. It's so discouraging seeing these guys that have rigs that cost more then my house
Hi! Im using pormido almost 1 yr now But it only records rear cam footage when i do playback. How can i record 3 camera at the same time ? Thank you
not sure, probably in the settings menu, check your user manual
Is it living in your car if you have a roof rack? Or overlanding?
How did you end up mounting your PRP seats? What mounts did you use?
PRP Universal Angle Mounts + Wedge Brackets double locking slider seat mounts (same as the Corbeau ones) + some ghetto engineering and several naughty language words
Started outfitting my little 5 X 10 squaredrop camper choosing to use the 10L/2.5 gal Scepter water cans rather than the 20L/5 gal for exactly the reasons you describe. I looked at several USB-charge power water faucets for their plumbing simplicity - pining for the Dometic Go but not wanting to spend the additional dollars. After looking at others' experience and looking again at the Dometic system, I made the plunge. Very happy. Buy once, cry once. I still use the Scepters for bulk storage but the Dometic 11L jug as the service supply. Win/win. Thanks for a great little vid!
Haven’t seen you release a video in a while. I hope all is good on your end. Don’t forget that that is men’s mental health month.
Great video. Which do you think will work best on a standard roof rack, Ulanzi or Smallrig super clamp?
Never used the small rig clamp so I don't know
Great information as as always, keep up the good work!
